god must be a boogie-man | 13.81 km

so the other day jodie had sent a text message that said: ‘haven’t seen you in a while. are you dead?’ and she was right. i haven’t been to the café in a long time because when i was working on the thesis the past weeks i always needed quite a lot of reference books by and about deleuze, so it didn’t really make any sense to work at the café. and obviously since the latin class has started i haven’t been out at all.

so tonight i thought i’d pop in for a bitter lemon and visit jodie. but she didn’t work. caro was there instead. and mark. now, mark is another very frequent guest at the café and we’ve had a couple of conversations already. he was also at the 200 lurkers gig at the connection and that was when he saw princess superstar. and after the show he took me aside and asked me about her, but i had to tell him that she was moving to canada the next month.

tonight he mentioned her again.
“so, your friend who has moved to montreal, how is she?”
“oh, quite fine” i said.
“hm…” he said shyly and i had to smile because he blushed a little.
“oh well” he finally said “you know, sometimes you see someone, and this someone has a very strong presence because of, yes, because of her beauty for example. and then you get curious and you want to get to know more about that person, for example if she not only *looks* beautiful but *is* beautiful…”

and of course i knew exactly what he meant.
